Every year the world remembers great music people who have passed on. Some die at a ripe old age, while others leave us way too soon. This year was no exception.<\/p>\n
Here are some of the more prominent musicians who died in 2014<\/strong>. They left us – and left a legacy.<\/p>\n Joe Cocker<\/a><\/strong> – English rock and blues singer, known for his gritty voice, spasmodic body movement, and cover versions of popular songs.<\/p>\n Jack Bruce<\/a><\/strong> – Bass player and vocalist of the power blues trio Cream.<\/p>\n Phil Everly<\/a><\/strong> – Half of the American country-influenced Everly Brothers, with his brother Don, known for their tight harmonies.<\/p>\n Tommy Ramone<\/a><\/strong> – Music producer and co-founder of the seminal punk band the Ramones.<\/p>\n Pete Seeger<\/a><\/strong> – Banjo-picking troubadour and activist who introduced generations of Americans to folk music.<\/p>\n Johnny Winter<\/a><\/strong> – Texas blues icon who rose to fame in the late ’60s and ’70s, brother of Edgar Winter.<\/p>\n Bobby Womack<\/a><\/strong> – Highly influential R&B singer-songwriter whose career spanned more than 50 years, during which he played R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country.<\/p>\n Paul Revere<\/strong><\/a> – Founder of Paul Revere & the Raiders, an American rock band that saw considerable success in the late ’60s and early ’70s.<\/p>\n Ian McLagan<\/strong><\/a> – English keyboardist, best known as a member of the Small Faces and Faces. He also collaborated with the Rolling Stones and led his own band in the late 1970s.<\/p>\n Bobby Keys<\/a><\/strong> – Saxophone player who toured with and played on albums by The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, Harry Nilsson, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Joe Cocker.<\/p>\n
